The Alp 40 is sufficient for overnight, multi-day trips in the backcountry.
There is an external vertical pocket on the side dedicated to storing your probe and shovel handle. There is a front storage pocket for a shovel blade and other items such as a medical kit, which is accessible by a vertical zipper. In the main storage compartment, there is a zipper pouch for storing miscellaneous items. The top of the pack has a Velcro roll top with a lid that adjusts up and down depending how much gear you’re storing. You can cinch down the lid to make it more of a low profile pack. The lid has a mesh zipper pocket on the underside. It also has a Velcro pocket on the top which stores the helmet carry sling. Load lifters on the top of the shoulder straps allow for carrying heavier loads comfortably. The waist strap is padded and has two hip stash pockets for a camera or small snacks. The sternum strap can be easily adjusted up and down. The back panel is made of a firm breathable foam. The pack has two light metal stays built into the internal compartment to help give it even more structure when fully loaded.
